Wanna do an embroidery project with me?

Hello! So happy today is a friday. It's snowy and cold, but somehow I don't mind because there's a weekend. And weekends are usually busy here..but it's a weekend. And somehow that word just makes it all better. Yes?

So, this weekend, I am going to be working on some designs and projects that will be ready for spring. Which isn't that far away (even though it's freezing here and it's hard to believe). And I need your help. I am getting some new embroidery patterns ready for the shop, but I am hoping to have quite a few designs....and I don't think I'll be able to hand embroider all of them in the next 3 weeks.

So...I've posted this on twitter, so some of you are already in on the deal...but I am proposing an embroidery Sarah Jane swap. I need some help with getting embroidery finished in exchange for a complete set of free embroidery patterns, and some other goodies.

If you are a die hard hand embroidery gal, or just really love a good embroidery project (oh...and these are easy. Nothing complicated, I promise!) please email me and let me know if you are interested. I'd love it! And, I'd love to see people come together over some fun embroidery. I love it. I love that it's like drawing...just with thread. It's the perfect activity for 'before spring' weather too, yes? Yes. I agree.

So, send me an email, and I'll send you the details. This will be super fun...don't be shy! I'd love to hear from you. Hmmmm...I like this idea of working on a project together as fellow blogger friends. We should do this more often. Ooooh...ideas brewing. Well...send me a note and we'll chat!

Happy Friday all!

Wanna design fabric?

I just got an email this week from Michael Miller letting us know that we can finally spread the word!

This is pretty amazing. A chance to design a collection of fabric with Michael Miller? I feel SO lucky to be one of their designers (even though I haven't even seen my own fabric yet!) and honestly, they are so amazing to work with. I feel seriously so, so, so happy working with them!

But there isn't just a one win prize...the top 10 finalists get some pretty sweet deals too. You can read all the deets here.

Go crazy! Start designing!

Audrey Love and Printable Valentine's cards.

Did you know that Audrey Hepburn had a pet deer? Yes. And did you know that it was a childhood dream of mine to have one too? Yes. So I know I've posted this before....but when I found these images a while back, I think I let out an audible, "Awwwww....."  I mean really. Who wouldn't want a fawn for a pet. And it really was her pet...the deer's name was Pippin, and she called him "Ip." Parties, car rides, long walks...they were always together.

These valentines cards were inspired by Audrey's pet fawn mixed with my childhood dream to have a pet deer. And since Valentines Day is just a few days away, I thought I'd mention these PDF downloadable cards in the shop in case you need a little last minute love note.

They've been marked down,  and will be on sale for the rest of the week!

You can also get them in card form, and we're happy to send. They are printed on really nice textured soft paper...they have the feel of letterpress folded cards. So sweet!

I'll be posting a bit more about Audrey Hepburn this week. Somehow she goes really well with Valentines day.

Happy Monday to you all!

ALT

Hello! Happy Friday!

I don't have much to say today, as I'm at the ALT Design Summit (and loving it by the way).

Last night we had dinner with small groups, and today was a full day of learning, meeting up with online friends, and taking lots of notes!

We got to spend the night last night with such wonderful people...old friends and new friends. Being around such creative people who aren't afraid to think outside of the box is really energizing. No two people are a like...no two people have the same path or the same story. Just a love for writing, design, art and communication. What a group.

Here's a shot from last night: Justin Hackworth, Stephanie and Christian Neilson (Nie-Nie) and my awesome boy and me.

I'll post more next week on some highlights! It's a treasure to meet all these people in real life. You think that the online Blogging community is nice? Well, they're even nicer in real life.

Have a great weekend!

I spy.

Hey Friends!

How are you? If you're like me, I can't believe January is almost over. Where did it go?

I'm getting ready for ALT Design Summit....so excited. Will I see any of you there?

While I was looking through said color inspiration yesterday, I came across this photo on Decor 8. It was funny;  my inner dialogue went something like this:

"I love this space! So great."

"Oh wait...that's Ishtar's studio (a long time e-friend and blog reader)."

"Oh wait again...there's my THREE BEARS REVISITED print on her desk."

Funny how the internet works. I stopped at the photo just cause I liked the photo, and turns out there's a piece of me in it. It's such an amazing world we live in. I could have never had that experience, say, 15 years ago.

I'll be on twitter during the ALT conference if you want to follow along. I'm going to be speaking on Licensing your designs & Building online sales. If you have questions about any of those topics you'd like discussed, post them here, and I'll try and answer them on Friday Morning during the discussion! Maybe even formulate a blog post on it too.

Hope you're having a wonderful week!

And remember: Calenders are 50% off....and close to gone!

I'm hiding up there, can you see me?

News just in: I'm speaking at ALT DESIGN SUMMIT this  month! I spoke last year, and it was an amazing experience. The first year that all design-blogging people had a chance to meet together, take classes, visit and learn from one another!

This year, I'll be speaking in a round table setting, on building online sales and licensing your designs.

What is Alt exactly? A place for all who love: design/social media/style/creative ideas all wrapped up in one. From the ALT site:

"We've created a place where design and lifestyle bloggers in all their forms— foodies, photographers, travelers, product placers, adventurers — come together, share ideas and connect with marketers. There will be discussions on how to grow your site, how to fund your site, how to keep your site above the fray."

The list of speakers is amazing. These people are real you guys...not just blogs we read every day! It's so fun to be with each other in person and glean from such amazingly creative people. You can read up on the speakers here.

You can read up on the amazing schedule here. There's be talk about:

Design & Style online

Photography for your site

The business of blogging

Marketing

Freelance

One of my favorite people will be instructing classes on Photoshop and Illustrator.

There's even a sewing class.

And not to mention really awesome food.

And really just have a chance to learn, be inspired and get ideas about how to grow those creative ideas inside that head of yours.

So...I hope I'll see you! Registration and info here.

Jan 19-22 Salt Lake City.

See you there!
