New Embroidery & Pillow pattern

quilts and more cover web quilts and more

Maybe you've already caught this issue....or maybe you are like me and just picked it up yesterday at the store. I opened it up this Better Homes and Garden's issue to the page above and showed my kids without saying anything. Ian gave me a big hug, and then said "Mom, you have GOT to tell the store owner!"

It was so darling.

Anywho....

Camille Roskelley and Joanna Figueroa (two darling ladies who are such a hoot and super fun to laugh with twice a year at Quilt Market) host a Scrap Lab issue, and chose me as a guest designer this month! I was super thrilled to create an Embroidery Pattern for this issue, with instructions of how to make it into a pillow like the ones that I made for my booth last spring.

And look how darling their other projects are! It's always so fun to see what other designers do with my fabrics, and this issue is packed with darling projects.

You can pick up the magazine at the store, but Better Home has provided an online link where you can download the instructions to make the pillow and print out the embroidery pattern.

Thanks Better Homes for the shout out! Have fun stitching and sewing:)

Pin & Flickr Friday: Dairy of Quilter

Hexagon baby quilt Sarah Jane Fabric

Do you follow Dairy of a Quilter? My friend Amy is always cranking out awesome stuff. She just made this quilt for a new baby niece, and I'm just in love. First off, I love hexagons. And knowing that I absolutely CANNOT sew hexagons makes this even more lovely. (It's so hard to get it just right!) And secondly, I love that this is a mix of my past two fabric collections (Children at Play and Out to Sea). And with the third coming in any day now, I think I'm going to need to make a quilt combining all three. With hexagons. But I won't sew it. Ha.

I've been a bit dormant in the fabric department since Autumn, and I'm excited to get back in the groove.

And I love sewing with my kids. Like today:  Addie asked me this morning if we could have a stitching party when she gets home from school. And I'm like "Sure! Let's break out the embroidery hoops, lady!" But she had a different mind. "No, let's get out all the stuffed animals and blankets that I've been asking you to mend, like all year,  that you still haven't mended?  I'll be the nurse and you be the Dr."  I kinda giggled and moaned all in the same moment. You know those "FAIL" moments as a parent? That was one of them. Guess we're playing Stitch Hospital today.

And speaking of fabric....I want to send you over to some lovely, lovely shops that are featured on the side of my blog here. I love purchasing fabric from the Quilt Home, Fashionable Fabrics, Fat Quarter Shop, Sew Modern, Crafters Vision, Quilting Garden, and Quilt Sandwich. Click on over and treat yourself. I'm getting the sewing bug again now that spring is inching in. Are you?

Happy Weekend everyone!!

STUDIO SALE

CLOSED

As we are redoing the kids rooms, we're also clearing out the garage, closets, etc. and I'm needing to make more room in my studio. But it's filled with fabric, random art prints, left over stationery, extra embroidery patterns...you name it.

I've run out of shelf space, and I need to make more room!

So, what I've done, is filled 30 Priority Mail boxes with:

  • USA & INTERNATIONAL RESIDENTS:
    • 10 fat quarters of both my OUT TO SEA and/or CHILDREN AT PLAY fabric collections
    • 8 1/4 yard cuts of OUT TO SEA and/or CHILDREN AT PLAY fabric collections
    • over 40 pieces of stationery
    • 4+ Embroidery Patterns
    • Random Scrapbook papers in the CHILDREN AT PLAY design
    • A coupon for 10% off your next purchase
    • A nice note from me:)

    USA RESIDENTS ONLY:

    • 1-2 random art prints, most likely out-of-print or signed and dated from a while back
    • 2+ catalogs of my fabric collections
    • random fabric scraps

This totals to over $100-150 worth in products!

But I've priced them at $60 each (shipping is included) and will invoice all international orders for the difference.

Note that Australia/Pacific buyers will have the chance to order later in the day.

I can't promise what you will get EXACTLY (thus the reduction in cost) but I can promise that they are all going to be wonderful. Most of it is products I currently have in my shop, but there will be some things that are no longer available, out of print, or discontinued. Maybe even some hand printed scraps.

If you have something in particular that you would LIKE to see, feel free to mention it in the customer text box at checkout, but no promises!

And if these sell out, I think I'll try and do another clearing out at the top of the year.

Have fun!

(PS: these will ship out on FRIDAY DEC. 7th, and will be shipped priority mail, so all USA residents will get them by DEC. 13th at the latest. All INTERNATIONAL shipping will be based on how long it takes through customs, and will be shipped first class on Dec. 7th)

(And PS: The ONE KINGS LANE  has one more day left!)

it's live!!

It's LIVE!

Come and get some AMAZING quilts, pillows and aprons featuring the OUT TO SEA collection.

You just need to sign up for ONE KINGS LANE to see the event. It's a great site. Promise.

My favorite items are all the decorative pillows with real vintage trims.

And then these canvas pillows with hand stitching....LOVE!

And the quilts are to die for. They forgot to open up the quilts to show the full design (oops!) but I promise, they are amazing. This one for instance, is rows of chevron, alternating with white.

These aprons are reversible, which I Love!! We have a few reversible aprons at home, and I think they are adorable.

Quilts sewn and quilted by the amazing April of Prairie Grass Patterns, Pillows sewn by Sachiko of Tea Rose Home and Susan of Lil' Tulip and Aprons by Gina of Party of Eight.

They lovingly worked together with me while I designed all the products and they sewed them together....they turned out amazing.

What a treat! I'll be shipping them from my studio with lots of love!

OUT TO SEA BLOG TOUR: The Sarah Jane Out to Sea Dress

So this might be the post that you are all waiting for.

I stopped counting how many emails I got with reference to this dress. And I can't wait to share!

When I was designing the products that I wanted for the booth, I drew a design for this dress, and tried to find a pattern that would match. When I couldn't find it, I emailed my friend Cally who made some dresses for Addie back when she had a shop selling her lovely creations.

Do you remember this dress from like 3 years ago? Still a favorite.

Anyways...I drew up a few designs for her, sent her a few pictures and asked if she thought she could work out a pattern. She got so excited and started figiting and I think it was the very next day that she sent me a picture of the mock up.

So, I told her that I'd be getting oddles of questions on how to make this dress, and she offered to put together a tutorial. Can you believe it? I love her.

Thank you Cally for making this Free Pattern for us all to use! It is honestly my favorite dress on Addie right now. I love that it can be dressed up or down...super cute with capri leggings and some ballet flats.

Happy Sewing!

(and do me a favor and let her know on her blog how gracious she is for doing this....a total labor of love:)
