Welcome Cjane Readers! If you are new here, take a seat and stay a while. There is lots going on here…and it’s great to meet ya!

We are all moved into the house, and though I am still digging through boxes to find socks, we are feeling so at home. We have entered the ranks of homeowners, and I love this title. There is a lot to do still to the house (did I mention we still need to install a couple toilets?) but those are just details. The wonderful part is that we have an address and a neighborhood and feel such a part of this wonderful community up on the mountainside. Our breakfast table overlooks the city below and there was a beautiful red-breasted robin singing to us from his tree this morning with branches that look out over the valley. This house is an artists paradise. I can’t wait to show pictures!

And believe it or not, I have been still able to chisel away at the Christmas Book I’m working on with Katherine Tegan books at Harper Collins. I have a deadline to finish completely in just over a month, and I couldn’t think of a better place to finish it up than at the new house. The art studio is proving to be a great place to work. I’ll get some boxes out of the way and shoot some pictures soon!

But to start off the week, there are some great giveaways over at CJANE celebrating the birth of her upcoming baby. I designed the invite (Can you tell I am into this retro feel?) and it should be a lot of fun!

I am giving away a $50 gift card to my shop here and you can visit more giveaways here. Come on over and dig in! And all orders with the mention of CJANE get a free card of choice in their orders this week!

Have a good one!

Sarah Jane, may I first say that you have such a gift. Your prints remind me a lot of the old-fashioned Winnie-the-Pooh books. I love them. I’m supposed to comment and say which print reminds me of my own childhood. It was tough to choose, but I’d say that any of the paper dolls remind me of my childhood. My mom grew up with paper dolls, and though they were hard to find during my era (and are even harder to find nowadays for my own daughter), she was forever hunting for them and giving them to me to play with. At the time, I truly felt that paper dolls didn’t hold a candle to Barbies, but I pretended to be thrilled, and I would play with them often enough to seem grateful. When I see paper dolls now (which isn’t very often), I smile when I think of how important they were to my mom to always go hunting for them and share her favorite childhood memory with me.

Hi Sarah–I have been reading your blog for a while now, and I love it. Your creativity inspires me…and I love your prints! They are so fabulous! I especially love the french ones (Le Ballon, Danse avec moi…)…they make me nostalgic for France. I lived there and in Belgium for a year and a half, and loved every second of it. I loved the feel of history around me and of something that was waiting to be discovered every day, even in the cracks of the cobblestone roads and town squares. Your prints capture that spirit for me…keep up the good work!

    Hi Sarah –

I’m a CJane reader and was directed to your site through hers today. I took a look at your etsy site — I’m a fellow etsian — and love love love your “This Much” print. The innocence and hope that is displayed through her heart is just soooo cute! I am also a sucker for all things retro as they remind me of my childhood and I’m constantly surrounding myself with retro-inspired things — a reason why I read CJane!

Can I just say that I’m lovin’ the retro? Did signing all that paperwork make you feel like an adult in the true Mad Men sort of way? (Gosh, I know it did that to me). Keep it up, I’ve got babes coming to hip, retro parents soon and I can’t wait to shop your prints for gifties!

You did a wonderful job with the invites! You do retro very well. Congrats on being in your home (sans toilets)! How very exciting. Looking forward to seeing photos of it all, including the art studio.

I was directed to your site from cjane…I love your paper cut out prints…it reminds me of my childhood when you get those special books and have the ability to design your own little story. Today I see the joy in my daughter as she receives those paper cutout books and I still get that giddy feeling of being able to create. Love your artwork! Sincerely,
    Adrienne

Hello. I LOVE your prints. My favorite is the girl helping the other girl do up her dress. My only complaint is that you don’t have enough red-heads. Real, authentic, bright orange-red, like my two girls (and myself, and one son–only one non-red so far). Still, that wouldn’t keep me from purchasing my three favs should I inherit a windfall. :) Really, I love your stuff. I like the innocence and sweetness.
