If babies aren’t happy, ain’t nobody happy.

We have some new friends that have kept us very very busy as of late. We don’t answer the phones. If there is a knock at the door, we gladly ignore it. We have nearly forgotten to eat! Last week we went on a family outing to the toy store and picked up a bucket of THESE. They have demanded our full attention and it is no wonder that they have been around since 1913. They have been around for 95 years for a reason! I am sure we are the last family on earth to finally have them in our home, but seriously, they are the greatest toy invented! And best thing yet…Addie and Ian have been so busy and so happy all week! Toys that have never ending possibilities for play are my favorite! And for the first time in a while, I actually don’t mind the constant mess on the floor. Well…almost. Let’s rephrase that..I don’t mind the happy toddlers I have had this week!

I wouldn’t mind that kind of a mess either.

Oh, how I looooove TinkerToys! My grandparents had them in the den at their house, and when my sister and I would spend a month there each summer, it was the first thing we went for. And then we’d get out the Barbies and all their circa-1955 handmade clothes and build them houses to play in… Good times, good times.

I couldn’t believe how much fun Addie and Ian had with the toys when I babysat the other day. I don’t think I have seen them play like that for a long time. It sure made babysitting them easy (and fun too, I played with the toys a little myself).

I do have to say that one of my favorite memories of tinker toys (since we didn’t have them at our house) was when I went to Grandma and Grandpa Wright’s house where they had GIANT Tinker Toys. Somehow I remember Kenny trying to make a car or something. Anyway they were great!

I just stumbled across your blog through etsy and had to say how beautiful your blog and your work is. These toys look fantastic, I’m wondering how I’ve never heard of them before, I’ll have to start looking for some for my boys.
