Want to hang out in my studio?
October 04, 2011
Hello Friends!
Utah’s channel 5 did a sweet little interview with me in my home studio last night (on their We Are Utah segment), and I wanted to invite you into my studio to have a look! Steve Olpin came to my house last month, and was so fun to work with. Working with a freelance videographer versus a news show host made all the difference, and I felt so relaxed to just spend time in the studio and reflect on my perspective on being an artist. And while I HATE talking about myself and what I do, it was really nice to put a little cap on why I do what I do, and how I got to where I am!
So, enjoy…and take this as a little open house invitation into my small studio space! Without, unfortunately, the hot cocoa and cookies that I’d have out if you really did come over to hang out.

Hey Sarah, I just wanted to tell you that I’ve been following your blog for a while now, but only recently have I really started paying attention. I’ve had to majorly reduce the amount of time I spend reading blogs, which made me choose which ones I love and can’t stop reading. Yours made the cut! And it’s because you’re so inspiring.. I’m not an artist. I’m a photographer and writer. But it’s your story that inspires me. Your ideas. Your ability to tell your story. Anyway, just a little blog love for your day. : ) Beautiful studio!
It was really inspiring to watch this video Sarah!!
I love your Children at play line. I keep snatching up more and more prints–you have me hooked!
Thank you for sharing yourself with us:)
That was very interesting to watch and listen to. My son asked if you were the lady who made the print that hangs in his room. He was excited to watch too. Thanks for letting see your space and get to know you better.
You are so cute. I loved meeting you a couple years ago. Great Video.
LOVE, just love… thanks for your ever and always inspiring spirit! cheers!
Adorable… YOU! I love that you are a wife, a mom, AND an artist. I love that when your family needed you… financially… that you ‘jumped off the high dive’ and found that balance of helping provide but not loosing your priorities and focus on eternal goals. I also love that your sweetheart is a teacher. I now homeschool but the few years that my kids spent in public school we were so very blessed by the male teachers that my oldest son had. All around crushing on you and your family. Bravo!
It is so fun to hear your story in your own words. Thank you for the inspiration.
yay!!! I am so glad you were featured on we are utah! you are the best!
Since I always tell you how awesome you are and how proud of you I am, this time I will just say I really love your hair. Those bangs are fabulous.

How cool is that! LOVED IT! You have come a LONG way!!!
Hi Sarah
Thanks for putting the video up for all of us not in Utah. That was great and it is fabulous to see inside your world just a little bit more.
Thanks
Debra
Thank you, I so enjoyed the interview and learning more about the creative process. Oh and I went to Amazon.com! A perfect Advent gift for my granddaughters. Maybe to go with a new quilt too.
Very fun! My book arrived last week and it’s beautiful
I thought you did great on your interview.
Thought you’d like to see what I did with your fabric: http://occasionalpiece.wordpress.com/2011/09/29/think-freddy-purse-fsf/
Yep–I made a purse, and I love opening it and seeing those paper airplanes. Thanks for your talent.

congrats sarah! it was so fun to see you in your studio — you are such an inspiration to me!
Love it!
Souch an inspirational video, Sarah , and your lovely, shiny personality, just the right one for doing what you do! You also motivated me, since I’m free-lance illustrator too and want to do more with my art! Anyway, thanks for sharing this sneak peek into your world!
How neat to get a peak inside your studio. I love how you are so eager to share your world and what inspires you and how in turn that inspires so many others!
I was so excited to see the video and hear your VOICE. I mean you have a voice artistically but to hear your ACTUAL voice was amazing. I am just so impressed by all you do…but MOST of all I am so impressed how much you want to stay simply “just a Mom”. That to me is the MOST important thing you will ever do for them.
Sometimes I feel torn – wanting more and more product – while realizing that you really belong only to your Hub, Ella, Addie and Ian.
Sarah, I loved this! You are so inspiring and have such a way with words. Great job. p.s. You look great. Love the bangs!
So inspiring! How great it feels to see other artists reaching so many of their dreams. You seemed so natural on camera, I would’ve been a blubbering idiot I’m sure. Great job.
Great Job Sarah! You are amazing!
You’re adorable. You inspire me. xoxoxo
you are just great!!! thank you because u exist!!!
OK, you are totally going to laugh at me. I’m totally embarassed, but I’m going to share anyway. I watched your video and found myself feeling overwhelmed with emotion and I started to cry. What in the world is going on with me? And then it hit me. In a world where there is too much violence and cruelty and adulthood is thrust upon our children from the time they can walk, the sweetness and innocence of your designs are so heartwarming. I feel hope for my sweet girls; that we can hold on to their childhood a bit longer. My heart filled with love for you and all the other mammas out there fighting to give their kids a real childhood filled with innocence and happy things. Sarah Jane, you are such a glowing wonderful amazing person. Thank you for sharing your interview with us. You are everything that is right in this world. Hearing your belief and passion in sharing your creativity with others and being so thrilled to see where others take your designs just overwhelms me – in a good way.
